Born as Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu on 2nd July 1991 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Burna Boy’s musical roots run deep. His grandfather, Benson Idonije, once managed the legendary Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti, which undeniably influenced Burna’s own path.

Burna Boy’s interest and journey into music began early. As a teenager, he’d create his mixes, blending different music styles. However, his formal journey started when he moved to London for further studies.

He returned home to Nigeria and launched his debut single “Like to Party” in 2011, which became an instant hit.

While Burna had been producing hits from the get-go, his 2018 single “Ye” from the album “Outside” became an anthem, not just in Nigeria, but across the globe. The success of “Ye” and the “African Giant” album that followed earned him a Grammy nomination
